Peek Inside A Birdhouse!
Have you see the work of Jada Fitch? She's an illustrator who constructed the most clever birdhouses. They are like a storybook come to life. Here's a nice article, and this is a video of the birds coming into the birdhouses.

The Sketch

Picture
I wasn't sure how I would render the birdhouses. I did a bit of watercolor, some line drawings, and finally settled on the collage papers.

I did the usual thumbnails and then this drawing. There are leaves in the drawing, but I realized that in early spring there are no leaves on the trees. The idea of pine boughs came about as I was sketching the leaves and it occurred to me they were a better choice and reminded me of the soft breezes and warmer air that comes with spring.

Did you catch the 2 errors in the March edition?
Despite checking and checking again, occasionally something slips by. The first error I caught, the second someone else caught:

1) Each month I repeat the postcard riddle in the letter. With each riddle, I go through a number of versions before settling on the final, and I forgot to update the entry to the final version in the letter. Ooops.

2) Last sentence in the last paragraph of the letter. "On" should be "an" . . . "keeping an eye on  that lilac bush." Arrgghhh.

Why bother pointing it out? I try to make Riddle Me Mail the best it can be and though it makes me crazy when I miss something, I want you to know I'm working hard to get it right.
