Riddle Me Mail - April

A month of delightful distraction.

The Earworm
It all started with "Let's Go Fly a Kite." I couldn't remember where the song came from, but of course I remembered it once I found a link online.

I also found a video of the song from the movie Saving Mr. Banks. If you haven't seen the movie, it's the story behind the making of Mary Poppins. The movie is centered on the book's author, P.L.Travers.

She was reluctant to have her story made into a movie, and each step of production was a challenge. A team of writers and musicians wrote songs, and "Let's Go Fly a Kite" was one of them. In this clip, the team performs their new song for P.L. Travers, a reluctant audience of one. But, as you'll see, she gets caught up in the melody . . . and probably had an earworm for days afterwards.

Before and After
When I first started in graphic design, I was taught to make thumbnail sketches of my ideas. Each edition of Riddle Me Mail starts with a sketch.  With this one, I retained some elements from the original, like the three kites, but eliminated the bows on the kite tails, and added clouds to the bottom, below the kites. What do you think?
