Riddle Me Mail - the May edition
A work in progress and some things discovered along the way.

Paper Flowers

This collage is my first bouquet. Looking The collage is only about 8" x 10" and that means lots and lots of little pieces.

The collage in progress.
One of the things I like about collage is I can pick it up and put it down without a lot of fuss. A glue stick, scissors, and color papers (painted sheet music) are all that's needed. I tend to work with smaller sheet sizes for backing because, once again, it makes it all a bit more portable and easy to manage.

But writing this has me thinking . . . maybe it's time to work on a larger scale.

New Gloves!

I've got new gloves and this morning I'm headed out to the garden shop to see what I can find for containers and flowers. It's Memorial Day weekend, so I think there will be lots of others doing similar projects.

My plan is to find boxes that will fit on the back porch railings, just outside the kitchen. Having them close to the kitchen means I'm more likely to see (and enjoy) the container gardens and seeing them will remind me to keep them watered.

I'll update this page as I progress, so check back and follow along if you think of it!

Refrigerator Pickles

It will be a while before cucumbers will be ready here in Maine. Where you live, they may be ready already, or in a few weeks. Here's the recipe for Refrigerator Pickles if you're interested. Yum, yum.

Brussels Sprouts

After writing my letter and mentioning Brussels sprouts on the stalk, I decided to look for an image to post and stumbled upon a recipe for roasted Brussels sprouts. I haven't tried it, so I can't say whether or not it's a good recipe. But, it's got some good photos of a Brussels sprout stalk, and I'll try the recipe when I can get some at Farmers' Market. Here's a link. If you try the recipe, let me know what you think!
