Riddle Me Mail - Book List
These are the books I talked about in my letter. I rarely read and listen to the same book and I'm sure the experience would be different. I read All the Light We Cannot See and Charlotte's Web, and listened to Revenge in a Cold River and Watership Down.
If you're looking for something different to read, this might be a fun place to start: "Summer Reading Recommendation, from 6 Novelist Who Own Bookstores," and you'll find lots more if you do an internet search for summer reading lists, or go to your local library for recommendations.

Independence Day On July 4th we celebrate the Independence Day, the day The Declaration of Independence was signed. Amid the fireworks, hotdogs, and bunting, it's easy miss the meaning behind the day. Here's a link to what The Declaration of Independence means and how it came to be from the National Archives. It's a good start and an easy-to-read breakdown of the elements, meaning, and process, that made it happen. Calligraphy (modified)
When I decided to use calligraphy for the calendar, I wanted the lettering to have a worn look with rough edges. Once the lettering was complete, I used a white pen to dab at the edges to create the look I was after. Collage in Progress
This collage is a mash-up of summer reading and summer fun. Initially I wanted to add titles to the books, but decided to leave them blank, leaving it to each person who looks at the collage to stock the shelves with the books they love most. Look closely and you'll see there are things that were added to and deleted from this version to create the final. |
