Riddle Me Mail - May
[ A behind-the-scenes look and some things we discovered along the way. ]

Riddle Me Mail - May -Art Panel Cartoon Talk Bubbles: Wow!, Nice Work, Bravo!, You're the Best!, Super, Well Done!

• Comic Day - May 6th

It's been a while since I've read a comic book, so Comic Book Day, May 6th might be the day. After doing some research I was surprised to learn there are far more categories than I could imagine: humor, horror , fantasy, Western, romance, and more. Certainly something for everyone.

Comic stores will not only have free comic books available, ome locations host comic book artists and costumed characters.

You might even spot a superhero!

• Cartoonist Day - May 5th

From The New Yorker to the Sunday funnies, cartoonists keep us smiling.

If you're an aspiring cartoonist, there's the National Cartoonist Society where you can read about other cartoonist and get information about contests.

• Batman as Inspiration

The inspiration for this month's lettering is from Batman, the 1960's TV series. As Batman and Robin fight the villains of Gotham City, the TV screen switches from punches and near misses to graphic explosions. Words like POW!, BIF! and BAM! fill the screen. The Dynamic Duo fight crime, solve riddles, and are utterly ridiculous, but so much fun.

Here's a clip with the Batman, Robin, and the Penguin.

The shows are aired on MeTV, check your local listing.

Tell a friend about Riddle Me Mail!

Consider getting it for yourself and giving it as a gift, it's a great conversation starter. Each month you can solve the riddle together and track the calendar of days, and who will solve the quizzical first?

Thanks for being a part of Riddle Me Mail, it wouldn't be the same without you!
Getting Mail Feels Good
Each month my goal is for more people to get more mail. With each riddle and letter I try to tell a story—one that I hope you'll find interesting. The art panel, quizzical, and calendar are designed to pique your curiosity and encourage you to try, discover, or explore something new.

Miss Agatha Wearing Her Pearls
These were two of my all time favorites from Fred Basset and Red and Rover. Agatha and I would walk the Eastern Promenade in Portland, sit under a tree, and watch the boats and activity on Casco Bay.

And when we got home, Agatha loved laying down, bumped up against the couch. And oh, she'd thump, thump, thump her tail when we'd talk to her (at varying speeds - truly - depending on her level of interest in what we were saying).
