Riddle Me Mail - the February edition

Canned Spinach
I'm not sure how I never noticed it, but canned spinach is a thing. And there's even a Popeye brand! Be sure to read about the Popeye postcard for a funny story.

Well, I purchased a can of spinach, and it looked pretty good from the outside. We had it for dinner, here's what I found:

Just heated with some salt, pepper, and butter, it was ... alright.

Maybe it would be better in a dish like spinach lasagne like the label suggests.

In the meantime, I think I'll stick with fresh spinach.

Have you had canned spinach? What do you think of it?

Do you remember Olive Oyl?
And Swee'Pea?

I was surprised to find an entire website devoted to Popeye!

Yesterday when I went to my Post Office box, I received the fabulous Popeye postcard (above).

And, it turned out to be my lucky day.

In my box I found the postcard and the cutout of Popeye mixed with other mail. They had become separated.

When I asked about it, Bill the postal attendant said he saw Popeye at the bottom of the bin and remembered seeing something about Popeye on a piece of mail. It was the writing on the back of the postcard addressed to me, and he knew where it belonged.

After we settled the Popeye mystery, Bill went on to say that when he was a little boy he loved the Popeye brand spinach, but he would only eat it if his mother let him eat it out of the can. Too funny!
